Premium Navigation, Recurrence Sovereignty, and Penalties Today’s focus was on elevating the user experience to “premium calendar” standards and deep-diving into the accountability engine with the new “Digital Forfeit” system.

1. Premium Calendar Header & Layout

We overhauled the Schedules navigation to match the high-density, functional aesthetic of Google Calendar:
  • Dynamic Header: Replaced static strings with a dynamic “Month-only” title (e.g., “March”) featuring a chevron toggle for DatePicker interaction.
  • Icon Standardization: Unified all header actions (Hamburger, Search, Today) to a sharp 32px size, perfectly synchronized with the bottom TabBar design system.
  • Visual Density: Adjusted the multi-day view to numberOfDays: 3 and narrowed the time-marker axis to 17% width for a more focused layout.
  • Dynamic Avatar: Integrated a prominent session-aware user avatar with intelligent fallback to initials.

2. Exception-Aware Recurrence Engine

We solved the “Stale Template” problem by introducing an Exception Pattern for habit instances:
  • Manual Event Protection: Introduced the is_manual_edit flag. User edits (like moving a 6am Gym session to 5pm) are now “cemented” and protected from being overwritten by automated template updates.
  • Collision Detection: The generateSeries engine now performs O(1) checks against manual exceptions, ensuring automated slots never clash with user-customized events.
  • Visual Feedback: Added a high-vibrancy ‘EDITED’ label in the schedules view to distinguish manual commitments from automated ones.

3. Multi-Stage Instance Management

We implemented a robust “Three-Point Consistency” workflow for managing individual task instances:
  • Delete & Duplicate: Added a functional options menu to the EventDetailModal. Deletion now triggers a surgical cleanup across Cloud (Convex), Cache (SQLite), and Hardware (Native Alarms).
  • Phantom Alarm Fix: Standardized the deletion sequence to eliminate “Ghost Notifications” by calculating future alarms only after the local and cloud state are fully cleared.

4. Digital Forfeits (Embarrassing Photo Penalty)

The accountability system now has concrete digital consequences:
  • Media Integration: Built the EmbarrassingPhotoScreen with native gallery access via expo-image-picker.
  • Square Aspect Lock: Forced 1:1 editing to maintain UI consistency within modern circular card layouts.
  • Email Preview: Created a Gmail-style header and X/Post-style inline image preview for users to see exactly what will be sent if they fail.
  • Waiver Flow: Refactored the penalty waiver selection into a dedicated page-based flow with premium slide_from_right animations.

5. Interaction & Feedback Polish

  • Loading Architecture: Integrated high-fidelity loading states across all critical workflows. The ConfirmationModal now features an ActivityIndicator to eliminate the “app freeze” perception during heavy Triple-Write transactions.
  • Haptic Intent: Implemented friction-based selection to prevent accidental shifts. Handles now persist until a background tap is detected.
