Notification Preferences

The Notifications settings screen allows the user to control how CommitT delivers alerts, reminders, and status updates through the Android notification system.

Notification Categories

CommitT uses distinct notification channels for different event types:

Persistent Foreground Notification

While any commitment block is actively enforcing, CommitT maintains a persistent foreground notification. This is not optional — Android requires foreground services to display an ongoing notification. Dismissing this notification does not stop the enforcement; it is re-created automatically.

Example

A user’s notification preferences:
  • Verification Alarms: Sound + Vibration (cannot be silenced during active sessions)
  • Pre-Slot Reminders: Sound only, 15 minutes before
  • Active Lock Status: Silent, persistent in notification shade
  • Penalty Notifications: Sound + Vibration + LED
